Subject: Building a Stronger Lincoln Through Affordable Housing

Dear Mayor Easton,

We are writing to urge your leadership in making affordable housing a top priority for Lincoln. Too many families in our community are struggling to keep up with rising housing costs, often spending more than 30% of their income on rent or mortgage payments. This leaves little for other essentials like food, healthcare, and education.

By investing in affordable housing, Lincoln can:

·       Support working families and seniors with stable, safe homes;

·       Strengthen neighborhoods by reducing homelessness and housing insecurity;

·       Leverage regional, provincial and federal resources to stretch our town’s budget further.

Affordable housing is not only about compassion—it’s smart planning. Communities with stable housing see lower emergency service costs, better health outcomes, and stronger workforce retention.

We ask for your commitment in the upcoming planning and budgeting cycle to ensure Lincoln has the resources and policies needed to expand affordable housing. With your leadership, we can build a stronger, healthier, and more prosperous town for everyone.

Respectfully,

Subject: Prioritizing Affordable Housing in Lincoln’s Planning and Budget

Dear Council Member [Last Name],

As you prepare for important decisions on Lincoln’s budget and planning, we ask that you make affordable housing a priority. Families across our town are struggling with rising housing costs, and too many are one pay-cheque away from eviction or foreclosure.

Affordable housing benefits our community by:

·       Helping families stay stable and engaged in schools and neighborhoods;

·       Reducing long-term costs in health care, public safety, and emergency services;

·       Creating a stronger workforce by ensuring employees can live close to their jobs.

Every dollar invested in affordable housing creates ripple effects—supporting families, strengthening neighborhoods, and making Lincoln more competitive in attracting new businesses.

We urge you to dedicate town resources and support land-use policies that encourage the growth of affordable housing in Lincoln. Your leadership can ensure that Lincoln remains a place where all families can thrive.

Thank you for your service and commitment to our community.

Sincerely,

[Your Name]
