Who we are as a church unfolds through the life of Jesus as told in scripture and what we see in the world. We live this in many ways, including the Christian practices of learning, worshiping, caring and reaching out. These give us sacred containers within which we can place our financial resources so that Trinity will be able to offer ministry and programs as we live out God’s transforming love in so many faith-filled ways.
The Stewardship Committee’s role is about a vision for life as God’s stewards, and finding the best, everyday ways we can communicate and live that out. Encouraging generous and faithful giving is one of the mandates of the committee, but it is also about sharing life and ministry together. In this, the committee has been placing a focus on the language and choices of Christ-like giving. Together, we give to financially support Trinity’s ministries and programs and connect with Christian practices.
The practice of learning provides education for children and youth, each Sunday morning during service time beginning at 10:30 am. A nursery is available for babies and toddlers. Adult study and reflection happen in many ways throughout the year, through Bible study, speaker series, spirituality gatherings, and the retired men’s group.
The practice of worship helps our church experience its vibrancy togetherand offer holy space for experiences of God. We gather as a community of faith to celebrate God’s presence and listen for God’s call to service in our world. Our ministry personnel, working with our organist and Faith Formation committee, prepare weekly worship services. We also have a strong tradition of involving lay members in leadership in our worship.
The practice of caring provides ongoing care and support to Trinity members, friends of our congregation, and those whom we cross paths as we live out our faith. We respond to individuals in times of crisis such as illness or bereavement and keep in touch with members who are housebound or live in seniors’ residences. Our ministry personnel and volunteer visitors want each person to feel the love of God being shared with one another. Living our faith continues with the practice of reaching out.
We provide time and money for God’s work beyond our church walls in our community, our country, and countries around the world. We support the work of the United Church through Presbytery and Conference levels, as we are called to seek justice and equality for others. We also provide additional support and funding for special projects as needs are identified.
